VitalSleep (not vital sleep) is a new device designed primarily to help manage, if not eliminate, snoring. You may look at snoring as not a big deal but for your spouse, having to live through with a very noisy partner while sleeping can be stressful in terms of not getting enough sleep. And for those who snore, there is clearly a more serious problem that they need to understand.
When we sleep, many of the muscles and other tissues of the body are relaxed including those that hold the soft palate, the tongue, and the back of the throat or the pharynx. However relaxed, these structures are maintained in a slightly contracted state so that they do not completely obstruct the flow of air into the larynx and the trachea, also known as the windpipe. Unfortunately, when obstruction becomes greater than normal, what happens now is that the air moving passively into the airways have to pass through this narrowed passageway, increasing the resistance, and creating vibrations in the different structures. These vibrations become audible enough to be perceived as snoring.
In many cases snoring can be a sign of a much deeper problem. Sleep apnea has always been associated with snoring where there is temporary cessation of breathing. When breathing stops, even for brief periods, the levels of oxygen to the different vital organs can get drastically low leading to more problems.
VitalSleep – The Solution
One very effective way of managing snoring is the use of a mouthpiece that stops snoring. These devices are known as Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD). What they do is to make very small adjustments in the positioning of the lower jaw or the mandible as well as slightly repositioning the tongue in order to maintain an open airway. And one of the best MADs so far this year 2016 is VitalSleep.

How Does VitalSleep Work
VitalSleep is a flexible mouthpiece that holds your lower jaw in a forward position gently whilst you sleep. This helps to keep the airway open and stop snoring. You will find that by keeping your airway clear, you will experience greater airflow and quiet breathing (ie no snoring – yay) while you sleep.
What makes VitalSleep unique from other devices that are being marketed as best snore relief mouthpiece is its patented boil-and-bite technology which is coupled with a micro-adjustment feature allowing the user to make very small incremental changes in the positioning of the mandibular advancement device.
Vitalsleep is adjustable and can be molded (as stated above using boil and bite technology) for a comfortable fit. VitalSleep has sliding mechanisms that allows you to adjust the mouthpiece using the adjustment screws in small increments. This allows for a perfect fit. The tool to make these adjustments is included in the package.
The VitalSleep comes in two sizes which allows you to get the best fits your oral cavity – regular for men and small for women.
How do you use the VitalSleep?
Step 1: Immerse the VitalSleep in boiling water for 10 seconds
Step 2: Place the device into your mouth with the stamped triangle markings facing the roof of your mouth
Step 3: Gently bite down onto the device for about 15 seconds and try to feel if you are comfortable with the fit.
Step 4: Remove the VitalSleep and promptly rinse it in cold water for at least 30 seconds
You can make very fine adjustments and then repeat the process of boiling and biting followed by fine-tuning this mouthpiece that stops snoring.
According to the manufacturer, the device can be safely reheated for a total of 5 times. This allows the user to make very fine adjustments until the perfect fit is achieved.
The device has fully adjustable movement (up to 7mm) by adjusting 2 screws.
When you increase the bottom part of the mouthpiece forward, you will increase the opening of your airway, which improves your breathing while asleep.
The official website claims that you only need toothpaste and a toothbrush to clean, however I recommend cleaning the device with a denture tablet. I personally found once a week to suffice.
In my searching, I could not find any clinical studies for the device. In saying this – there are countless clinical studies that have been performed on mandibular advancement devices.
Is VitalSleep FDA Approved?
Yes. The VitalSleep is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration
The VitalSleep device is created by a company called The Snore Reliever Company LLC. I have searched, and found that they do have a page on the Better Business Bureau site, however – the business is not accredited by the BBB.
This is not a bad sign however, as business are under no obligation to seek approval from the BBB. The reason given on the BBB site is:
“BBB does not have sufficient information to issue a rating on this business”
The product is backed by a 30 Day Money back guarantee, 100% satisfaction guarantee and a one year 100% free replacements warranty. For me this was enough to convince me to pull the trigger on this mouthpiece that stops snoring.
- Is not good for users that have dentures, capped teeth, braces or missing teeth
- Cleaning can be a tad tedious due to the small gaps around the device
- You will most likely experience mouth soreness on the first couple of nights as your mouth gets used to the device
- Make sure you keep track of the tool as if you are like me – it can get lost into the ether
What is Being Said Online?
From what I have found from reading some VitalSleep reviews – the majority of customers are very happy with their VitalSleep device. I did not find any complaints, other than muscle soreness etc which is to be expected.
I did notice that some commenter’s stated that the device was cheap compared to its more expensive peers such as the Zyppah and Good Morning Snore Solution. What I did find was that these people were not actually customers, so I take their comments with a grain of salt.
The official site has some customer testimonials which are very positive. Click Here to read them.
One that stands out:
I have an app on my Kindle Fire that records and counts night time talking/snoring. Without the VitalSleep I was getting 30 to 40 recordings a night. With the same sensitivity levels using the VitalSleep I am getting only 5 to 7, and I expect this to improve as I get more use to wearing it.
Thanks again for your help.
I found this review of the VitalSleep by Professor Alan Hedge:
My Experience with VitalSleep
I ordered 2 VitalSleep devices in the regular sizing as for me this represented the best value at $99. This way you get 2 years of use from the device. I also found out that if you ordered before 3pm it shipped the same day. Aaaand in typical Mark Cooper fashion, I found this out at 3:15pm.
Never to worry, when the device arrived I cleaned it with denture cleaner. I was able to fit the device with relative ease using the steps that I listed above and straight away noticed how comfortable the device felt once fitted. I did need to adjust the lower jaw a bit, but nothing major. I really liked the holes at the front of the device as I knew there would be a lot of mouth breathers who would breathe a sigh of relief over this feature.
When I woke up the next morning I checked my SnoreLab app and there was no snoring reported. My wife confirmed this, but complained that the cat bit her ankle to be let outside.
More importantly – i felt fresh and energized and ready to face the day. Just like you used to before you started snoring.
My mouth and jaw had some slight soreness, however I was expecting this and was confident that this would pass.
Over the course of 2 weeks – SnoreLab did not record any snoring while I was using the device. The soreness i experienced in the mouth and jaw only lasted 2 nights.
on the 15th day I decided to sleep without the device and SnoreLab went off like a rocket. And so did my wife.
The VitalSleep is one of the best priced stop snoring mouthpieces on the market. You can purchase a single device for only $59.95, however if you buy 2, you only have to pay $99.95.
VitalSleep is backed by its 30 Day money back guarantee, and comes with a one year 100% replacement warranty, meaning you can purchase this with no worries.
Shipping is $7.95 for USPS Priority mail, and international shipping is $8.95.
The VitalSleep offers great bang for buck. It is one of the cheaper devices on the market, however do not let that put you off – this is still a very good device.
Whilst I prefer the Good Morning Snore Solution over this device (you can read my Good Morning Snore Solution Review here), the VitalSleep more than holds it own against the more expensive devices.
The VitalSleep comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and an incredible one year 100% replacement warranty. Firstly – this is pretty much unheard of for this type of device, and secondly – this means you have a guaranteed 2 years of no snoring, for $100.
The VitalSleep is highly recommended
